We are a small family business located in Dunsandel, South Island, New Zealand producing a very limited amount of high quality gourmet seed garlic bulbs.
The seed varieties that will be for sale this year are New Zealand Purple, Russian Red, Spanish Rojo and Silverskin garlic.
We will, for this season, have a very limited amount of Russian Red Jumbo Bulbs for sale.
All of our seed garlic bulbs are grown here at Dunsandel in raised garden beds filled with 100% organic matter.
New Zealand Purple, is an early variety of garlic that should be planted in the early part of May and then harvested in early November.
All other varieties are planted later in May and harvested during the month of December.
New Zealand Purple comes from the Turban family. Bulbs are very colourful with the minimum diameter of 60mm and containing 5 or more large cloves.
Russian Red garlic that we grow are from the Marbled Purple Stripe variety and have bulbs of 50mm or larger containing 4 or 5 very big cloves.
Our Spanish Red (Ajo Rojo) is cultured from the Creole garlic variety with 50mm or larger bulbs containing vibrant red coloured cloves.
Silverskin garlic is the only softneck variety that we cultivate and is well suited for growing in all parts of New Zealand. Lots of cloves of all sizes (some jumbo) with a minimum bulb size of 55mm.
